If you've written a book, you'll want to make sure it's the best possible quality before you send it out into the world. For this, you need to have your manuscript professionally edited. And that's where I can help out!
As a thorough, passionate editor, I love nothing more than working with authors on their manuscripts. I consider it a privilege to help writers fine-tune their work to perfection before publication.
I offer several different levels of manuscript services:
If you're not sure whether your book is ready for a full edit, I'd suggest undertaking a manuscript assessment. This is where I read your manuscript and offer overall feedback on elements such as plot, character development and structure. This general feedback will come in the form of a reader's report and an optional half-hour phone or Skype consultation. (If you're after more in-depth, page-level feedback, see Structural/Developmental editing below.)
This is big-picture stuff. I'll be looking at your completed manuscript as a whole, identifying any issues with structure, plot, characters, themes, and story flow. I'll point out any inconsistencies or inaccuracies, work with you to solve problems (big and small), and make suggestions and recommendations for improvements.
In this stage of editing, we get down to the smaller details. I'll be focussing on the writing itself, helping you refine and sharpen your language, sentence construction and style. This is also the stage where I'll identify any issues with grammar, punctuation and spelling, as well as pointing out any other small errors such as continuity slip-ups.
This is the final stage of editing a manuscript should undergo before publication. It's where I get out my magnifying glass and pore over your book word by word, making sure there are no errors, typos or formatting issues. This is the stage in which my eagle eye for detail really shines!
